Virtual Dental Implant Planning Using Dental CBCT
The field of dental implant surgery has advanced significantly since the development of Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT). As early adopters of CBCT, Dr. Thomas Kang, Dr. Kevin Suzuki, Dr. Allen Liu, Dr. Jessica Hsu, Dr. Jenna Cha, Dr. Ehsan Zahedi and Dr. Julianna Shamoon have been using this technology for 10 years. CBCT allows the doctors to produce 3 dimensional computerized models of the patients jaw bone, specifically in the area of interest where dental implants or bone grafting procedures may be required.
These scans are inexpensive costing only $159 and allow the doctors to precisely measure and assess a patients candidacy for implant therapy. The following screen shots were taken using the Vatech iPAX 3d scanner. Both of our locations have this technology available.
Cone Beam CT produces 90% less radiation than traditional forms of CT resulting in significantly less risk due to exposure than traditional methods for obtaining this data.
